Red Polka Dot Toiletry Bag

It's the one-year anniversary of my polka dot toiletry bag! Not that that is necessarily worth celebrating, but it is one of the cutest project (in my opinion) that I've ever sewn. It is hard to go wrong though with polka dots and a classic color scheme like navy, red, and white.

This also come just a couple days after a good friend of mine requested that I sew for her a toiletry bag for an upcoming trip. I couldn't resist more polka dots. It says a lot about my love of polka dots that this fabric was already in my stash.

I was a very lucky girl at Christmas this year and scored myself a 13" Macbook Air. It was much needed since I'm getting more serious about my blogging now. Before that I was using a 6-year old Netbook I had really just purchased for taking to class in college. Let's just say photo editing took A LOT of patience on that thing. So obviously I am very, very happy with my new laptop.

Immediately after getting it I looked into cases. I wanted to protect my new baby! The ones I liked the most were made out of felt. The Macbook Air is super light and sleek, so I liked the idea of a thin sleeve to protect it without adding bulkiness. However, I couldn't bring myself to buy it. I figure I could make it myself. I definitely procrastinated a bit, but I finally made it!

Fat Quarter Series Wrap Up + Bonus Project

Last week I posted the last project of the Fat Quarter Series, so now you can sew a toiletry set out of just 5 fat quarters. I thought I'd wrap up the project by showing you the layout of how I cut each fat quarter for the projects. Plus, remember the paltry scraps we had left over from the project? This little vinyl bag uses scraps leftover from the Fat Quarter Series. It's the perfect size for cotton swabs or hair accessories. The clear vinyl makes seeing what's inside easy and provides water resistance. I have the easy tutorial for you today.
