I love an easy DIY. I have so many sewing projects that I want to do, but it's sometimes hard to find the motivation to work on them. Let's face it, sewing can be a lot of work and requires a lot of setup and cleanup. So from time to time, I like to make something that is easy and fun and can take me under an hour. In fact, this necklace took me just a couple minutes to make.

I felt in the mood to make some jewelry, so I got out my jewelry-making notions. This is actually my inspiration process. I take out what I have (and maybe make a bit of a mess in the process) until I figure out something I want to make. The charms for this necklace were from a pack of pandora-style charms from Michaels. I don't have a charm bracelet, but I purchased it anyway because I liked the charms in the set.
I was really liking this star and crescent moon combo. It may be because it reminds me of my favorite childhood anime, Sailor Moon. So I decided to make those two charms into a necklace. This lariat-style necklace fits over your head so no clasp is necessary and you can adjust where the charms lay.
Materials Needed
Since my crescent moon charm that was attached to a bead, I first detached the charm using jewelry pliers.
Steps
- Slide the large-hole bead/charm onto the chain.
- Use pliers to attach the jump ring to one end of the chain.
- Insert the other end of the chain through the jump ring.
- Use pliers to attach the charm.
That's it! Now you can put on your necklace by pulling it over your head and adjusting the charm to where you'd like it to lay.
I hope you found this tutorial useful. If you make your own version, I'd love to see pictures! You can tag me in social media (links in sidebar). And make sure to follow my blog to keep up to date with my latest posts.
Happy DIY-ing!
