Handmade Christmas Gifts

Handmade Christmas Gifts: DIY presents - Crochet - Sewing - Jewelry Making | She's Got the Notion

Now that the holidays are over, I can share what projects I handmade for Christmas gifts. Some of them were not so sneaky, as they were the toiletry bags I made for my online class and the Tiburon Gloves pattern I released on Ravelry last month. Others you'll get to see for the first time here.

The Tiburon Gloves seemed to be enjoyed by all who received them (and I even gave them to some of the same people who got them last year!) No joke, it just might be the perfect guy gift. And women like them too, of course. You can find the pattern for the fingerless gloves in my Ravelry Store or my Etsy Shop.

I wanted to have a little fun with some of my gifts this year, so I purchased this cat ears fingerless glove pattern on Ravelry. You can read my review of the pattern here. I made both a Sailor Moon themed pair of Luna mitts and a pair of Hello Kitty themed mitts with bows.

This is another gift that I splashed all of over social media before Christmas, but luckily most of those recipients don't read my blog. The toiletry bags seemed very much appreciated. Plus, the french seams made them quick to sew up. I even had time to make another one in a pretty floral oil cloth. You can find the tutorial in my online class on Skillshare. Otherwise, I have a free tutorial for a similar (but a tad more complicated) as part of my fat quarter series.

I re-did an oldie on my blog for another type of toiletry bag for my sister. You can find the free tutorial for my makeup bag as part of my fat quarter series.

I made some necklaces to give as gifts too. You can find the tutorial for one of the chokers (bottom pictured) in my online class on Skillshare. I also have several jewelry tutorials on the blog you can check out here.

I also crocheted a messy bun beanie. This was a special request as it was blowing up on the internet last month. I sort of winged the pattern here by mish-mashing ones I found online, but I may try to write up and post the pattern on my blog soon. I made the hole for the messy bun by crocheting around a hair tie for the starting row. It came out pretty cute. The idea is that your hair bun looks like a pom pom coming out the top.

This Waffles the Kitten crochet pattern was so adorable I had to buy it. I made it for my friend's daughter who is just shy of a year old. However, even though I checked my gauge and made the toddler size, it was much too small. I will definitely have to re-make it! Some reviews on Ravelry mentioned issues with it running too small, though. Also, it's so adorable I may have to make one for myself to "test" the adult sizing. You can read my review and a link to the original pattern here.

And that was it! Another year of handmade gifts is complete. It's alway exhausting but so rewarding. Did you make any Christmas gifts this year? I'd love to hear about it.

Happy DIY-ing!
